‘KÖLNDÜSSELDORF - The Meetropolis’ has been awarded project funding. Formed by the collaboration of Cologne and Düsseldorf, the two Rhineland conference and convention destinations have received a grant of 640,000 euros as part of the 'Erlebnis.NRW' ('North Rhine-Westphalia Experience') state competition.
‘The Meetropolis’ project was created by the Cologne Convention Bureau and the convention bureau Düsseldorf. The aim now is to further fuse and strengthen their expertise and capacities when it comes to hosting conventions and events. A global marketing campaign will target the entire meetings sector, including conventions, in a bid to strengthen competitiveness with other major German cities.
Mayor of Cologne Jürgen Roters congratulated the Convention Bureau on their funding: "I am delighted about the success of the Meetropolis project in the Erlebnis.NRW competition.”
"The funding awarded for the "Meetropolis" project is great news!" said Dirk Elbers, mayor of Düsseldorf. "The close collaboration between Düsseldorf and Cologne puts us in an excellent position in the convention sector.”
