ACE Bookings Ltd is celebrating after increasing its international bookings from £3,000 to £500,000 in just one year.

The Derby based venue finding firm has also reached its £1 million confirmed bookings target for 2016 just over halfway through the year – resulting in director Jo Wilson receiving a letter of congratulations from her MP.

Wilson said: “I’m very proud, it’s not every day you get a letter from the House of Commons. Just over half way through the year and we've smashed our million pound target for confirmed bookings in 2016.”

The surge in business has come after ACE Bookings took on Games Workshop as a client.

Wilson said: “We do all of their bookings; training three or four times a year, events in Europe and America and the majority of their UK workshops and conferences. They hadn’t used an agent before, I met someone that worked there at a networking event and it went from there.

ACE Bookings recently reached the final of the International Trade category at this year’s Derby Telegraph Business Awards – resulting in the letter of congratulations from Mid Derbyshire MP Pauline Latham.

Wilson said: “It was really unexpected, and so nice to be recognised for the work we’d done abroad.”

Wilson spent nine years at Zibrant before starting up ACE Bookings Ltd in August 2013. She welcomed her daughter Jade into the business just a year later, and also employs a third member of staff, Meghan Devine, on a freelance basis.

Wilson said: “We’ve got around 20 clients in all across the board and some of the clients can have up to 15 bookers. They’re keeping us very busy. We are definitely on the verge of needing more staff. I’m really excited, it’s been a great couple of years, Jade’s done brilliantly and I’m looking forward to the future.”

Wilson also runs a private Facebook group that acts as a support network for small agencies.

“There are so many small agencies out there and people want advice and help, it’s just a place for support and back up should anyone need it.”
