Abu Dhabi National Exhibitions Company (ADNEC) has appointed the former chief executive of Suntec Singapore Exhibition & Convention Centre Pieter Idenburg as its new group CEO.
Idenburg will take up the role on 1 August and has more than 25 years experience in the industry, having also held senior management positions at companies including American Airlines, The Walt Disney Company and British Airways. He worked for Suntec Singapore Exhibition & Convention Centre for seven years and was at the helm for events such as the IMF / Worldbank Conference and the first ever Youth Olympic Games.
ADNEC’s managing director, His Excellency Ali Saeed Bin Harmal Al Dhaheri, said: “Idenburg is driven by a passion for excellence and he has a reputation as an innovator in the service industry – all values that are at the heart of our organisation.”
Idenburg added: “I am delighted to play a part in ADNEC’s future in Abu Dhabi, the region and in the exhibition and convention industry as a whole. I am sure that my lifelong passion for service excellence will support ADNEC to grow the business in line with its vision and values.”
Idenburg’s appointment completes the restructure of ADNEC’s senior leadership team as CFO Mike Henderson had been managing the CEO role since April 2011.
