Top agencies have signed up to the latest MPI Connects event in London, linking emerging industry talent with potential employers.

The event, at the University of Greenwich on 14 April, is hosted by the UK and Ireland Chapter of Meeting Professionals International, and has attracted First Protocol, Zibrant, Smyle, George P. Johnson, TFI, Grass Roots Group and AMEX Meetings and Events for an afternoon of interviews, panel discussions and recruitment advice.

Rick Stainton, Smyle MD, will be among the industry figures offering insights into the opportunities and demands of the sector, alongside Helen McCabe of Zibrant and Caitlin Kobrak of George P. Johnson.

He said: “Smyle is a dynamically growing agency and as such we pride ourselves on achieving exceptional standards. Finding and nurturing talent is critical to our continued success. Investing in the next generation is key to this and we look forward to meeting outstanding candidates who could play a key role in our future plans.”

Attendees will submit CVs prior to the event, while one-to-one meetings and informal networking will take place to maximise the chance of finding a new employee.

Grass Roots Meetings & Events took on two recent event management graduates following the 2015 MPI Connects. Operations director Sue Massey said: “The event enabled us to meet new talent all together in one place and saved a lot of money on recruitment costs. The students impressed us and the event provided a platform for companies to identify potential event recruit graduates and interns.”

Registrations are now live for students to register at www.mpiuki.org and employers interested in taking part, including hotel chains, venues and tech providers, should contact hamish@mpiuki.org.
