Twenty five association representatives from across the world discovered the wonder of science at the inaugural World Science Festival Brisbane this month.

The science and arts event was staged outside of New York for the first time and Brisbane is set to be the Asia Pacific headquarters for the festival for at least the next five years.

Brisbane Convention Bureau general manager Rob Nelson said the association representatives from 10 countries - including Australia - were familiarised with the city’s business events providers and experiences.

“They also discovered first hand how their events can align with the World Science Festival Brisbane,” he said. “As Australia’s New World City, Brisbane is recognised as an innovation hub that enables associations staging conferences in the city to offer a superior delegate experience, engage with local thought leaders and increase their networks.”

The representatives attended events in the festival’s program and engaged with keynote presenters and attendees such as Robyn Williams, Brian Greene and Alan Alda.

They also toured leading facilities including the Translational Research Institute Australia and the QIMR Berghofer Medical Research Institute to learn how they can engage with Brisbane’s institutions to enhance the conference experience.
