Boutique agency Avenue Events has celebrated 20 years in the industry with a party for friends and colleagues at its home at Pyrford Golf Club in Surrey.

Dozens of event professionals enjoyed cocktails and canapes in the sun, along with party games, a golf challenge and a barbecue.

Avenue Events founder and chairman Helene Kemsley said: “We were delighted to see so many industry friends and colleagues enjoying our glorious location here in Pyrford and celebrating our 20 years.”

Kemsley said: “Having passed on the role of MD to my son David at this 20 year threshold, I recognise that this is an industry driven by strong, creative young professionals. Avenue is now embracing a five year plan restructuring and focusing on future growth.

“We intend to retain our boutique values and despite the effects from changing financial climates, we are excited about our journey onwards.”

She added that the opportunity to travel the world on fam trips had provided many highlights from the past 20 years.

“As a result of these visits, we feel well equipped to advise and guide our ever-growing diverse client base on their forthcoming events, furthermore, forging and retaining great relationships with not only these clients but the numerous industry professionals who help shape and support our business.”

Kemsley added that there is a need for bigger and better hotels and venues if the UK industry is to thrive in the future.

She said: “I would like to see plans for London and the Home Counties to provide larger, quality hotels and venues to match many of our European cities in terms of facility. We cannot compete with many of our European counterparts, as we just don’t have the capacities required for larger events. It would also help to accelerate the growth of more international airport hubs to allow access to new and exciting cities.”
