UK event professionals will be able to steer Brexit negotiations in a survey being carried out by the Business Visits & Events Partnership (BVEP).

The BVEP Events Industry Referendum Impact Survey will poll industry professionals on topics such as cancellation experience, primary concerns, key priorities for event businesses, EU legislation to keep and EU legislation to scrap, as well as any opportunities noted since the referendum.

The results of the survey will be collated and passed on to ministers to formulate an approach for negotiations.

Simon Hughes, vice chair of BVEP, said: "The BVEP has been asked by the Department of Media, Culture and Sport to provide industry input and co-ordination to discussions that will be taking place with ministers, as well as informing the work of the Events Industry Board which will also be representing the industry’s concerns to the relevant government departments.”

BVEP will also work with other representative bodies such as the Tourism Alliance in its formulation of the events industry voice.

Hughes added: "Our focus is to support the development of a robust body of evidence that will inform the negotiations that lie ahead. The support of the industry and our members will as ever be invaluable in this and I would encourage them to complete the survey."
