Birmingham's conferencing portfolio is set to receive a substantial boost this autumn, when the Birmingham Conference & Events Centre (BCEC) opens its doors.

The major venue, owned and managed by the Cairn Group, will offer 2,000 sqm of event space split over two floors and is positioned adjacent to Birmingham New Street station.

The BCEC comes as part of a four-year phase project which includes the opening of Lobby on Hill Street, Bar and Terrace. Plans are also underway for a rooftop bar and fitness facility.

Vincent Garrington, general manager of the BCEC, said: "We’re delighted to officially announce the opening of the Birmingham Conference & Events Centre. The venue brings a major new event and exhibition space to the heart of the city and is proving to be a very attractive proposition for local, national and even global companies and organisations. Already we have secured a number of bookings and have a strong pipeline of companies looking to bring their business to the BCEC in the coming months."

BCEC will comprise 20 conference rooms capable of accommodating up to 1,450 delegates, as well as six banqueting six that will hold 30-750 guests.

An official opening date is due to be announced in the coming weeks.
