Business Events Bournemouth has generated £2.7 million for the local economy, including £800k worth of hotel bookings, in its first year.

The fledgling organisation - a partnership between Bournemouth Borough Council, Bournemouth Coastal BID and BH Live - says booking volumes for the city have improved fivefold on previous years.

Pat Coyne, BH Live director of venues, said: “Business Events Bournemouth was launched in November 2014 to confirm Bournemouth as a must-do event destination, boosting income for the venues, hotels and other businesses in the town.

"We've had a fantastic year. By looking beyond the traditional footprint of venue finding, and harnessing activities unique to our region, we’re adding an extra spark to events, boosting Bournemouth’s reputation as a superior event destination."

Business wins in 2015 included the Association for Cultural Enterprises convention in March, Royal College of Nursing congress and exhibition in June and the Liberal Democrats Autumn Conference in September.
