The events industry has a further two weeks to tell government of its hopes and fears surrounding Britain’s exit from the EU.

Since June’s Brexit vote, the Business Visits & Events Partnership (BVEP) has been inviting submissions from the sector so it can lobby government to ensure it is well represented when negotiations begin.

So far BVEP has received 64 responses to the online survey and has now extended the deadline until 16 September, originally 31 August. The deadline was extended as ‘many people may not have been around during the summer’ to complete the survey, a spokesman said.

Questions surround primary concerns and key priorities for event businesses and which EU legislation they would like to see kept or scrapped.

BVEP vice-chair Simon Hughes said: “The new government has asked for our help in determining the views of the industry and we want to make sure that those opinions are gathered as widely as possible. Therefore, it is imperative that the industry makes its voice heard and contributes to this vitally important piece of research before the deadline of 16 September.”
