New Zealand tempted 40 UK event buyers with an evening dedicated to food and wine at New Zealand House in London.

During the night, hosted by chef Peter Gordon and wine expert Oz Clarke, Tourism New Zealand expanded on plans for the New Zealand International Convention Centre (NZICC) in Auckland and showcased the country’s meeting facilities, while treating attendees to a food and wine journey.

The NZICC is due to open in 2019 with 32,000 sqm of space and capacity for up to 2,850 delegates.

General manager Simon Jamieson told attendees that the new centre would increase Auckland’s competitiveness on the global stage.

Tourism New Zealand’s Lisa Gardiner added: “Each year New Zealand plays host to conferences, events and incentive groups from around the globe who come to experience the welcoming people and innovative culture which make New Zealand a world-class business events destination.”
