CiEvents has appointed David Cox as regional general manager Europe. He will oversee its UK operation following the departure of Penny Lion, who launched the company in the UK in 2006.
Lion, who is returning to her native Sydney as general manager with Business Events Australia, is credited with establishing the company as a significant contender in the UK events and incentives industry with a current turnover of £8m and a client portfolio including Thomson Reuters, IBM, La Senza, Wagamama and Telstra.
“Creating and growing CiEvents in the UK over the last four years to become such a successful operation has been extremely rewarding,” she said. “It was a very difficult decision to leave but the new job is a great opportunity for me back in my hometown of Sydney. I shall miss our clients and staff greatly, however I am leaving CiEvents in very strong hands with David Cox’s and the existing CiEvents team, who are all highly experienced and passionate about what they do for our clients."
Cox, who takes up the London-based role in October, has 18 years experience in the events and incentive marketing industry and has spent the last six years as global general manager at CiEvents' loyalty division, CiLoyal. Prior to joining CiEvents, Cox was managing director of Inmark, a company which he founded in 1998 and grew into one of Australia’s largest group travel, conference and incentive marketing organisations.
Cox said: “I am very much looking forward to leading the dynamic and experienced CiEvents team and ensuring we continue to deliver truly customised solutions, logistics, and entertainment to our clients. I also look forward to growing our presence in the UK further.”
