Inntel has been appointed to manage all accommodation, travel and meetings requirements for Colas Rail.

The rail infrastructure services provider, a division of Colas Group, wanted to bring travel booking in house for a more streamlined service, and after discussions with Colchester-based Inntel, awarded the contract without a full bidding process.Colas will use Inntel’s iCentral booking platform.

Jane Dibble, director of business development, said: “We were selected primarily for our tailored response but also our knowledge and understanding of the industry, as we have multiple large rail clients who we have worked with and built up long-lasting relationships.

“Colas Rail had a clear vision from the outset, they did not want a full TMC (travel management company) as previous experiences had taught them they could often achieve better rates booking direct, and as such, wanted to bring all bookings in-house. Our solution was to provide them with full access to iCentral, enabling them to make all bookings internally, with the added support and expertise from Inntel.”

Raj Neelakantan, head of procurement at Colas Rail, added that Inntel’s knowledge of the rail industry from working with previous clients proved pivotal.

Inntel MD Douglas O’Neill added: “I’m thrilled Colas Rail have appointed Inntel to guide them through what is a hugely significant change in their organisation, and I’m sure we will form a great partnership that exceeds expectations.”
