The Meetings Industry Association (mia) is set to provide contract and employee relations advice at two upcoming workshops.

The mia is hosting a venue contracts workshop at Central Hall Westminster on Friday 14 October that will see contracts specialist Nick Milne delivering a full-day workshop covering best practice in event contracting.

And a week later, on Friday 21 October, the mia will be offering help and advice at Leicester Racecourse for anyone in the industry needing support managing tricky employees. Delivered by Philip Cripps, chief executive of Thameside International, the session will examine the influence that difficult employees can have on emotions and actions.

Jane Longhurst, mia chief executive, said: “The contracts workshop will be particularly helpful for anyone responsible for drafting and issuing contracts and terms and conditions to event organisers, as well as anyone who books conferences and events and needs to know the implications of signing on the dotted line.

“If you manage people, there’s no doubt that at some point in your career you’ll have someone demanding lots of your attention. The implications can be huge as very quickly they can negatively impact an entire team’s performance and morale. It’s never easy, so the session offers practical advice on the best way to deal with one of these common workplace characters who can create endless headaches and disruption.”
