Convention Centre Dublin doubled its profits to €5 million (£4.4m) in 2015, according to accounts due to be filed with the Companies’ Registrar.

The venue grew turnover to €22.7m (£19.9m) last year from €19.3m (£16.9m) in 2014, while operating profit doubled to €5m (£4.4m) over the same period.

Adjustments for interest and financing costs meant that the venue posted a pre-tax profit of €17.8m (£15.6m) in 2015, up from a loss of almost €5.8m (£5m) in 2014.

Chief executive Nick Waight said: “2014 was a challenging year for the business, however there has been a strong recovery in 2015 with revenue over 18 per cent higher than in 2014.”

He added that 2016 is set to show a further revenue increase of around 5 per cent and that the pipeline of business in 2017 also looks good.

The venue recorded 384,000 delegate days last year across a total of 164 events.
