Conference venue collection etc.venues will add London’s County Hall to its portfolio after a ‘multi-million pound’ investment.

The company, which operates non-residential conference venues in Birmingham and London including 13 in the capital, plans to create a 4,000 sqm facility with 20 rooms in the Thames-side building, last occupied by the Greater London Council.

Space includes The Thames and County Suites with views across the Thames and Parliament, and etc.venues plans to open the new facility in January 2017, as it targets the evening and weekend event market.

Director of sales Margaretha Welsford said: “Our clients have been urging us to open something bigger and nearer the West End and after a two-year search we’ve found the space our designers can transform into not just a top London venue but a world class venue.”

“It’s an iconic building in an exceptional location and we believe will be a big hit with a wide range of UK and International event planners seeking a new and different London venue.”

The new venue will maintain original parquet floors and art deco windows alongside high-spec AV and Wi-Fi. County Hall’s largest conference space will be able to accommodate 400 guests, while the Thames and County Suites combined can hosts groups of up to 900.
