Dubai is headline sponsor of M&IT Industry Awards 2017

Announcement comes after emirate takes top spot for most popular long haul destination in Trends & Spends survey

Dubai Business Events has been announced as headline sponsor for the 2017 M&IT Awards.


The official convention bureau for Dubai says it is excited to headline the industry's largest awards show, which is expected to attract more than 1,000 guests, with the UK being one of Dubai's key markets.


It comes after Dubai was named number one long haul destination among UK agencies in this year's M&IT Trends & Spends survey. UK visitors to Dubai reached 887,000 in the year to date to September, up from 853,000 (+4 per cent) for the same period 2015.


Dubai Business Events director Steen Jakobsen said: "We're really excited to be headline sponsors for the M&IT Awards in 2017. The UK is an important market for Dubai and the M&IT Awards provides an excellent opportunity for us to further leverage Dubai's position as preferred destination for the conferences, meetings and incentives among agencies and corporate planners in the UK."


The awards take place at Battersea Evolution on 3 March 2017. Other sponsors include BI Worldwide, Grass Roots, Ashfield Meetings & Events, Zibrant, MCI, drp, Noble Events, ExCeL London, Davies Tanner, VisitScotland, Dublin Convention Bureau, Hallmark Hotels, Euromic, Q Hotels, Barbican, Melia Hotels International and the Meetings Show.


Jakobsen added: Dubai already has a strong position in the UK market but with increased airlift, hotel and venue capacity in the Emirate, we aim to grow our market share to achieve our ambitious target of welcoming 20 million international visitors per year by 2020."
