A 'Northern powerhouse' of industry figures will help develop the northern England branch of the EWL Club.

Formed in London last year, the not-for-profit EWL (Eventprofs Who Lunch) Club networking group is already spreading its wings, and has appointed Hotel Desk’s Jo Egan, Nel Flint, head of meetings and events operations at Capita Travel and Events and CHS Group MD Emma Cartmell to the new committee serving the north east and north west.

Ensuring a mix of agency, supplier and corporate – as well as a Northern profile – the committee also includes Phoebe Benta, events coordinator at Equilibrium Asset Management, Make Events director Holly Moore and Melanie Thompson, director of sales at The Lowry Hotel, Manchester.

EWL Club founder and director Helen Moon said: “The new EWL North committee possess a tremendous amount of passion and an essential set of skills necessary to lead EWL in the North. This fantastic team are inspired leaders within their own organisations and the industry and I’m proud to be working with them to drive our growth and development and deliver value to our members.”

The group’s launch event – a discussion on developing an event - will be held at the Lowry Hotel on 9 September.

Egan added: “I’m personally delighted to be involved in creating our version of 'a Northern powerhouse' for passionate event professionals to network, learn and inspire with each other.”
