Edinburgh has set its sights on the lucrative North American conference market with a new partnership.

The Edinburgh International Conference Centre (EICC) has penned a deal with Sarah Fleming Associates (SFA) to work exclusively in Scotland on lead generation from the American market.

International association conferences make up more than half of the EICC’s business and the partnership comes on the back of the busiest year to date for the venue, which hosted 139 business events for the corporate and association markets.

The 1,600 sqm Lennox Suite is the latest string to the EICC’s bow, significantly increasing capacity for large-scale association events.

CEO Marshall Dallas said: “The development and expansion work completed in 2013 de-livered world-class facilities that are now starting to pay real dividends and the EICC is now viewed as a destination to match any other - not only in the UK but worldwide. While we already have a significant amount of association and corporate business coming in from the US, market research indicates that we can attract even more.”

The venue has also diversified from business events, such as Comic Con and Insomnia Gaming Scotland, as it has delivered a £1.2 million improvement in bottom line figures.

Sarah Fleming, of SFA, said: “We’re really excited to be partnering with the EICC as they focus in on the North American market. We will work closely with the EICC’s sales and marketing team, combining our respective skills to convert prospects into business wins - it’s a smart way of working.”
