One in 10 planners ‘know nothing’ about event apps according to a new poll from meetings tech provider Lumi.

The company surveyed 70 senior level event organisers and while 81 per cent has used technology to engage their audiences, 39 per cent said they were novices when implementing event apps and 12 per cent said they knew nothing of them.

Peter Eyre, Lumi UK managing director, said: “The fact that so many event organisers in our poll have already used engagement apps represents the initial enthusiasm of the market, leading to hype and market crowding. However, now the market has crystallised and organisers recognise that there is more to know and learn if the apps are going to be around for the long term.”

Lumi’s poll also revealed poor venue Wi-Fi was the largest perceived barrier to using event apps (42 per cent), while 39 per cent feared attendees would not be confident using the technology.
