ExCeL London says it has lined up 20 new shows so far for 2016, as the venue looks to build on its record-breaking year in 2015.

Seven events will relocate to ExCeL this year, such as the London Vet Show which was formerly at Olympia, while at least 13 new launches will take place from the likes of Reed, Clarion Events and others.

It comes after ExCeL reported reaching £5 billion in economic benefits since opening its International Convention Centre (ICC) five years ago. It has also opened a new state-of-the-art meeting and training facility, CentrEd at ExCeL, earlier this month.

Major events to take place at ExCeL London will be New Scientist Live, set to be Europe's largest festival of science, along with Star Wars Celebration, set to attract thousands of fans.

Other business events that will relocate to ExCeL include the UK's railway infrastructure event, Infrarail, along with newer events like military industry forum ITEC, the Universities and Colleges Admissions Service (UCAS) Convention and The Office Show.

"It’s set to be a really exciting 2016," said Jeremy Rees, executive directors of exhibitions at ExCeL.

"Face-to-face events, where like-minded people have the opportunity to meet, network, and exchange ideas, have never been so important and this is apparent in the raft of new business and expanding shows that we will welcome to ExCeL next year. We look forward to working closely with the event organisers to support growth and helps make their shows a long-term success."
