Fast Forward 15 founder and Zibrant MD Fay Sharpe has been recognised with an industry leader award from the UK Centre for Events Management (UKCEM).

Sharpe received the award at the graduation of her first class of Fast Forward 15 mentees at The Langham on Friday, which was presented by UKCEM principal lecturer Jackie Mulligan, also one of the founding mentors of the programme.

Mulligan said: "Fay is one of the industry’s most influential and inspiring individuals who not only has an impressive successful track record as a businesswoman, but has also given back through supporting boards, events, charitable initiatives and mentoring within her own company.

"In 2015 she exceeded her own record by initiating the Fast Forward 15 programme, a nationwide initiative to inspire and empower women to succeed in the events and hospitality business. This award is very well-deserved.”

The award forms part of the 20th anniversary celebrations for UKCEM at Leeds Beckett University.

Sharpe said: "To have been presented with such a special award in front of so many friends and colleagues was truly humbling. My passion for the meetings and events industry is as strong now as it was when I first started out over 25 years ago, so to be in a position where I can help give back to and support the next generation through initiatives such as Fast Forward 15 is a great honour."
