Festive Road has appointed two business travel associates after beating its financial targets by 35 per cent in its first year.

The travel and meetings agency, launched by Caroline Strachan and Paul Tilstone in January 2015, has taken on Joseph Bates and Aurelie Krau to expand the company's presence in the US, China and France.

Around a third of the agency's business is meetings-specific.

Tilstone said: "Our first year went really well; we smashed all records and surpassed financial targets by 35 per cent. We've doubled our targets for this year and we are well on track for that."

The agency plans to build a global associate programme, made up of experts that look after key areas, and Bates and Krau are the first to come on board.

Bates joins after six years as VP of research and strategic initiatives for Global Business Travel Association, and is based in Washington DC and Beijing. Krau will represent Festive Road from Paris.

Tilstone said other international markets he would like to target include Germany and Spain, along with further expansion in the US. But he added the company would be in no rush to expand into those markets until it had the right recruits.

"For us it's more of a priority to find the right people than it is to go and find someone in a particular destination," Tilstone added.
