A tool that helps business travellers track their environmental footprint has been launched at this week's Global Business Travel Association (GBTA) conference.

The Sustainability in Travel Self-Assessment tool allows organisations to measure themselves in 10 different areas, helping benchmark their travel programmes in terms of sustainability.

The tool provides recommendations and will identify specific resources for improving or implementing sustainable initiatives for travel programmes, and has been created in partnership with GBTA and BCD Travel.

Its launch comes ahead of next week's Sustainable Events Summit, a one-day forum that will address environmental practice in the events industry, on Monday 21 November at 30 Euston Square in London.

Kathy Jackson, BCD Travel’s executive chair of corporate social responsibility, said: "We are very proud to have been part of such important and wide-ranging projects. At BCD Travel we recognise that a travel programme can contribute to a company’s goals by improving continuously. Both tools will help travel buyers bring their travel programs to the next level."

The tool was launched at this week's GBTA conference in Frankfurt, and is available to all GBTA members.
