George P. Johnson has promoted its global account director Peter Davies to business development director, a new role that has been created to support the agency's growth.

Davies, who joined GPJ in 2013 as senior account director and led EMEA activity for Workday and Salesforce, will work with the business development teams across the agency's 45 offices worldwide.

It comes after GPJ revealed pre-tax profits quadrupled from £201k to £805 last year, while turnover rose 16 per cent to £34 million. The agency followed that by opening a new office in Oslo in June this year.

Jason Megson, GPJ managing director for UK, said: "We’re going through an exciting period of growth and change at the agency, and hence Pete’s new role supports our re-gearing of the agency’s senior team and our renewed focus on strategy and creativity."

As well as Davies appointment, GPJ recently welcomed Mary Kabra as its new marketing director in September. It also comes off the back of the agency's investment in senior talent, after Neil Mason joined as executive creative director and Jonathan McCallum as chief strategy officer.

Davies said: "Recently we’ve had a number of great wins in some exciting new industry sectors. This in-turn has created positive momentum within the agency that I am looking forward to building on, while continuing to support and develop our offering with our longstanding client partners."
