Some of the industry’s leading names have thrown their weight behind this year’s Global Sustainable Event Summit (GSES).

Event agencies Banks Sadler and The Fresh Group have joined venue finding website Showslice as executive partners, while ExCeL London, drp, Fisher Productions and the Smart Group have signed up as research partners. They will drive a research programme which will guide content for the summit, for which the date and venue is to be confirmed. Industry organisations to sign up as supporters also include Camm & Hooper, Crowdcomms, Melia Hotels International and the NEC.

A combination of in-depth interviews and short Q&A sessions with more than 100 corporates is designed to gain an understanding of the barriers to implementing sustainable practices and also examine the relationship between sustainability requirements and creativity, supply chain engagement and event message delivery.

Smyle, Positive Impact, Sustainable Events and the Rachel Ley Consultancy are the driving forces behind the summit, first held in 2013.

Rick Stainton, Smyle MD, said: “Our research findings will come from a relevant foundation created by representatives from across the different live event sectors, providing an insight into how sustainability can be used to enhance an event experience.”

Banks Sadler head of event solutions Mark Scales added: “Having the vision to drive a more corporate social responsibility-focused events industry is incredibly impressive, and one which Banks Sadler feels very passionate about.”
