Events industry professionals Paul Hussey and Kate Conway are warming up to give industry charity Meeting Needs a run for some money, as the pair take on this year's London Marathon.

Hussey, of Conference Doctor, and Hyundai Motor UK head of events Conway, also a board member of the charity, are hoping to raise at least £5,000 to fund at least one project.

Conway has run 12 half marathons since 2011, each race in support an orphanage in Phnom Penh. As a result, Conway discovered Meeting Needs after seeing it fund vaccinations of 100 children at the orphanage, and joined the board in 2015.

She said: "Running the London Marathon has been on my bucket list since doing the half marathons, and when I got a place in the ballot for the London Marathon there was only one choice of charity to run for!”

Hussey added: "Kate made me do it! I was 'lucky' enough to get a place in the marathon draw and this meant I could support a charity that was less well known but does great work and something many in our industry contribute to.

"If you like ice baths and spending a fortune on the physio, then I do recommend long distance running - if not then why not just sponsor Kate or me.”
