Irish convention industry 'bullish' as CCD announces new wins

12/10/2012

The Convention Centre Dublin (The CCD) has announced five major conferences for the 12 months starting this November. Combined with the Irish presidency of the European Union beginning at the start of 2013 - with several related events due to be announced soon - Irish officials are very bullish about the future.

The NetApp Insight 2012 Conference will take place 13-16 November with 2,300 delegates and has already booked its return for the same month in 2013. The Annual eHealth Week Conference will take place 13-15 May with 2,500 delegates; the 15th International Congress of the European Society for Child & Adolescent Psychiatry will take place 6-10 July with more than 2,000 delegates, and the 16th Annual European Congress of the International Society for Pharmacoeconomics & Outcomes Research will take place 2-6 November 2013 with 3,300 attendees.

Nick Waight, The CCD’s chief executive, said: “We have had an incredible year and continue to secure a wide range of large international events. Dublin as a destination and The CCD as a venue are proving extremely popular with organisers and delegates, with our client satisfaction rates consistently above 96 per cent.”

The centre, which opened in September 2010, has won a total of 17 industry awards, including ‘Best Overseas Conference Centre’ at the M&IT Awards 2012. The centre had already confirmed a variety of events for this and next year, including the 9th European Intelligent Transport Systems Congress (June 2013) and the World Congress of Pharmacy & Pharmaceutical Sciences (August-September 2013).
