Las Vegas is
celebrating a record-breaking convention year after welcoming 6.3
million business travellers in 2016.
It marks the
third consecutive year the destination has seen growth in visitor numbers, with
overall visitation increasing from 42.3 million in 2015 to 42.9 million.
The Las Vegas
Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA) helped oversee major tradeshows and
conferences such as the annual technology tradeshow CES in January (170,000 attendees), InfoComm in June, which broke records for attendance (39,000) and exhibitors (1,000), security tradeshow ISC West in April (30,000 delegates) and IMEX
America in October.
It comes as LVCVA unveils the Diamond Lot, a new parking and outdoor exhibition space added to the Las Vegas Convention Center. The launch finalises phase 1 of the project, which sees an additional 55,700 sqm of exhibition space, meeting rooms and other amenities added to the facility.
Ralenkotter, CEO of LVCVA, said: "Las Vegas continues to see increased
interest in the destination, and we are excited to announce that once again we
are celebrating record visitation. Together with our resort partners, we look
forward to aggressively marketing the destination around the world to continue
attracting more visitors and break the record again this year."
