A move of venue to the First Direct Arena in Leeds has paid off for the Conference and Hospitality Show (CHS), which has reported a 48 per cent increase in visitor attendance.

In the show’s first year at the arena since leaving its former home, Elland Road stadium, hosted buyer numbers also increase by a third. Dedicated to meeting planners in the north of England, the show has rebooked the First Direct Arena for 2017.

CHS Group MD Emma Cartmell said: “The move to the Arena was a bold step but it has certainly paid off. The industry was very excited by the venue which meant that we sold out weeks before we opened.”

In total, more than 1,200 event industry professionals attended the seventh edition of the CHS, while there was 72 per cent uplift in exhibitors.

Wolverhampton Racecourse was among those to have exhibited for the first time. Commercial sales director Jan Denning said: “I am keen to attend again next year, but with a larger space where several racecourses from Arena Racing & Leisure Group can be represented.”

CHS 2017 will be held on 4 April 2017.
