LiveBuzz has launched an Innovation Lab to focus on digital innovation as it moves to position itself as a "global thought leader" on the area.

The event registration, website and staffing company says the new department will be a standalone resource, that will allow LiveBuzz to "shape the future of event technology". As well as leading the company's evolution of event technology, the team will be on hand to provide insight and thought leadership to the meetings and events industry.

The new department will be led by Luke Ellis, LiveBuzz's lead creative technologist, and consist of six full-time senior software developers.

Ellis said: "I'm delighted to formerly announce the launch of our Innovation Lab. It has taken several years for us to assemble the considerable talent and gifted developers that make up our team. The power of events lies in human interactions, and our Innovation Lab will focus on how organisers and participants can derive more value from these interactions and utilise emerging technologies to maximise efficiencies, value and relevance."

Justin Craig, LiveBuzz's joint MD, commented: "At LiveBuzz our vision is to create excitement, value and innovation for the Global MICE sector. Our deep understanding of the operational needs of organisers and our proven track record of delivering onsite at large events feeds us with insights that give us a unique advantage over standalone software development houses. Our Innovation Lab is a standalone resource in addition to our eight client facing developers that really allow LiveBuzz to shape the future of event technology."
