London fam trip a hit with European buyers

31/10/2012

A London fam trip for 100 German, Austrian and Swiss buyers has already resulted in one buyer confirming a group booking for 200 next October.

The trip – which was hosted by London & Partners, Guoman & Thistle Hotels and British Airways - coincided with the official handover ceremonies of the East London Olympic facilities to the London Legacy Development Corporation (LLDC).

The European guests were given tours of East London, “hidden”
London and established entertainment districts such as the West End. The itinerary was designed to maintain the spotlight on London after a phenomenal Olympic year and showcase both the London of old and new.

One buyer booked an event for October 2013 at The Royal Horseguards, the host hotel and site of the event’s gala dinner, held in its One Whitehall Place
event space.

Barbara Jamison, London & Partners’ head of business development, Europe, said: “With the world spotlight on London this year, it is paramount that we continue the momentum following a phenomenal summer of events across the city. It is vital that we now raise the city’s events profile even higher to secure a lasting legacy for the capital.”

Niels Sherry, The Royal Horseguards’ general manager, added: In a year which has seen the hotel deliver an exceptional number of corporate events as part of this summer’s Olympic Games, more trips like these will not only help us to maintain a key presence but will help us strengthen our reputation within additional global markets.”
