Malaysia is playing host to 2,500 delegates from Chinese healthcare giants Joymain Group for a conference and corporate incentive trip.

The event, taking place on 12-17 June, is set to generate an estimated RM18.8 million (£3.23m) of economic impact.

A one-day conference on 14 June is set to be followed by several days of traveling to various tourist spots in Malaysia. This will include an immersive cultural experience, site visits and slice of life experiences. A gala dinner was held on 14 June at Sunway Lagoon Surf Beach.

The opening ceremony was officiated by Datuk Zulkefli Hj Sharif, CEO of Malaysia Convention & Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB) at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.

Sharif said: “In terms of business tourism, China is number one in the market that represents 25 per cent of the total incentive travel market.”

MyCEB is aiming to help the Malaysian government hit its target of 36 million tourists and RM160 billion (£27.5bn) in receipts by 2020.

In March 2016 a large incentive group from Perfect China generated RM242 million (£41.6m) in economic value with a record breaking 12,000 delegates in attendance.
