The largest gathering of business leaders dedicated to the 'Northern Powerhouse' heads to Manchester Central later this month.

Taking place on 25-26 February, the two-day UK Northern Powerhouse Conference gives professionals the chance to show how their activities can shape the Northern Powerhouse agenda and drive the growth of regional business.

Keith Griffiths, co-organiser of the UK Northern Powerhouse Conference, said: “The UK Northern Powerhouse Conference aims to play a major role in contributing to the commercial conversation around the Northern Powerhouse and help the region reach its economic potential.”

Angie Robinson, CEO at Manchester Central, said: “We’re delighted to have such a unique opportunity to hold an event which will educate northern businesses on how bolstering their current activities can support the advancement of the Northern Powerhouse.”

The conference – supported by the chief executives of all major northern cities and backed by the chairman of the Local Enterprise Partnerships – will be chaired by the BBC’s John Humphrys.

Speakers include Northern Powerhouse Minister Lord O’Neill and CEOs from numerous private and public sector companies including ASDA, Microsoft, Network Rail and First Group.

Robinson added: “The venue is internationally renowned for hosting high profile events and the UK Northern Powerhouse Conference absolutely sits alongside them; it has already attracted an enormous amount of attention and backing which is reflected in the outstanding speaker line-up.

“Personally, I’m most looking forward to learning even more about how our venue can play its part in the development of the Northern Powerhouse and discovering new collaborative working opportunities with other leading businesses in the North.”
