Marriott will bring its new Moxy brand to Aberdeen later this year after announcing plans to expand across Europe.

The budget, design-led hotels are aimed at the millennial generation of travellers, and claim to offer an ‘unexpected hospitality experience’.

Slated for a December opening, the Moxy Aberdeen Airport will have 200 rooms, while further Moxy hotels are also due to open this year in Munich, Eschborn and Berlin in Germany and Oslo in Norway. Moxy Milan was the brand’s first foray into Europe. Two new openings are planned in the US; in Tempe, Arizona, and New Orleans.

Amy McPherson, president and managing director of Marriott International, Europe, said:  “This is an exciting and pivotal moment for the Moxy brand as we move into the second phase of development with five new hotel openings this year and nine more expected in 2017.

In 2014, Moxy Milan hit the market with a bang, as the first budget-savvy hotel brand to shake up the industry with a fun, stylish, and unexpected hospitality experience.  We are so pleased to be able to offer this game-changing experience to more travellers in more major cities.  This is just the beginning of a sensational journey for Moxy in Europe.”

To appeal to the next generation of business travellers, Moxy hotels boast photo booth elevators, high-energy lounges, 24/7 self-service grab and go and ample plug-ins for personal devices.

Earlier this year, Hilton unveiled its latest offer, Tru by Hilton, also aimed at the next generation of hotel guest, to be rolled out in North America.
