Taiwan has set its sights on attracting increased business from the UK market.

The east Asia destination recently showcased venues, destinations and its expertise to an audience of UK buyers in London, and estimates the UK comprises the largest segment of European business events visitors, attracting 60,000 visitors a year.

Agencies and corporates attending the showcase included Burger King UK, NetApp, Cornucopia Events and Amberley Project Management.

Agnes Lan, deputy MD of MEET TAIWAN said: “We believe the UK could be an even greater resource for the Taiwan meetings industry. Therefore, MEET TAIWAN and eight of Taiwan's premium suppliers came to London to introduce our destination.”

Feedback from buyers at the showcase indicated that more than half were very likely to sell Taiwan as an events destination and almost two-thirds said their knowledge of the destination had improved significantly.

Suppliers represented were: Howard Hotels Resort & Suites; Taiwanlook Co; K&A International; Brogent Technologies; Kuching Travel Service; Leofoo Tourism Group; Taiwan Convention & Exhibition Association; EVA Airways.

The event was organised by Bureau of Foreign Trade, MOEA. Implemented by Taiwan External Trade Development Council and Taiwan Trade Centre.
