Jurys Inn has created a new senior position as it looks to drive its meetings and corporate events business following the increase of its meeting room count by 80 per cent.

The hotel group has appointed Richard Money as director of sales - MICE, and tasked him with overseeing meetings and events at six Hilton hotels and a Crowne Plaza.

It comes as the group grew its available meeting rooms by 78 per cent with the addition of eight new hotels, and an £18 million investment in the refurbishment of two of its largest hotels, Jurys Inn Hinckley Island and Jurys Inn Oxford.

Money said: "The group considers the MICE market as fundamental to the growth and development of the brand. With Brexit and the challenges with currency fluctuation, a high quality, professional M&E provision with good road, air and rail infrastructure is essential."
