Melbourne Convention Bureau 'looking after' injured delegates

Eight delegates remain in hospital following conference bus crash

Eight delegates remain hospitalised following a bus crash on a familiarisation tour ahead of the Asia-Pacific Incentives & Meetings Expo (AIME).

A tour guide and 13 delegates had to be freed by emergency services on site after the bus collided with a low-hanging bridge on Montague Street at 10.30am local time Monday. The bus company came under fire from local media after it covered its brand on the side of the vehicle with duct tape.

Organisers of the show have visited the delegates in hospital, while two have accepted offers of counselling from Melbourne Convention Bureau (MCB).

MCB CEO Karen Bolinger said: "We're making sure we're looking after them. We feel very strongly about our community; it's a Melbourne and AIME community. It's about making sure we are there and acknowledging and respecting their needs through this time."
