Former Concerto Group sales director Simon Mitchell has launched his own event management agency, KIN.

In addition, Mitchell has also taken on the role of MD at street food specialist KERB, which aims to break into the corporate event market.

London-based KIN, which will based in the same offices as KERB, claims to ‘specialise in outstanding events and experiences, with a focus on the power of meaningful and strong relationships’.

Mitchell founded his own start-up agency, Impulse Events in 2003 before that was merged into Concerto in 2012 and he became business development director. He was then promoted to sales director in February 2014.

“I have clients who I have worked with for 15 years and it would be silly to neglect them, so I decided to do both,” Mitchell said. “I am very passionate about the industry. I believe a lot of the event management companies, especially in the parties and celebrations sector I work in, talk about what they do. What I care about is what my clients want and what they do.

“There are a lot of synergies with KERB. I think the corporate catering world is very staid. If I am going to a Christmas party for example, I want awesome food and cocktails, rather than three-courses and wine. Street food ticks those boxes for me, and they will be the type of packages we put together.”

Petra Barran, founder of KERB, said: “The appointment of Simon Mitchell as managing director is an important strategic step for KERB. Simon brings with him lots of commercial and industry experience, and we are confident he will provide the strong leadership needed to harness the power of our talented street food traders.”

Mitchell added: “KERB has built an unrivalled reputation for being at the forefront of London’s most exciting street food, as well as nurturing the talent of its traders. We’re delighted to be able to bring this fantastic food to the events market – street food is the future of event catering.”
