A second branch of the newly launched EWL Club London could be launched by the end of this year.

The EWL (#Eventprofs Who Lunch) Club is the brainchild of freelance event organiser Helen Moon and was launched to its London membership this week, with a networking ‘social’ at the M by Montcalm hotel in Shoreditch.

With membership open to all corners of the event industry, the social attracted around 90 attendees, and the club has amassed more than 250 members since its ‘soft’ launch in 2015.

After that initial success, Moon plans on expansion in the north of England. “Our focus is on growth in the next year,” she said. “We are looking at doubling membership and then launching a northern branch with around 150 members.”

Borne out of Moon’s desire for better quality networking after she moved from the supplier to buyer side of the industry, the EWL Club meets either for breakfast or lunch events, with numbers limited to around 15. Forthcoming events include a breakfast discussion on event industry competition MyEvent.Vision and a lunch addressing the future of corporate hospitality.

Moon added: “Our main objective is to create an environment that is a bit more informal and more relaxed where you can build stronger connections.

“The larger events can be quite intimidating and networking is so crucial to this industry. We find people can come away with more connections from these lunches than they would attending the larger events.”
