New GM plans to make Burlington "best conference hotel in Birmingham"

Newly promoted general manager at Macdonald Burlington Hotel aims to make hotel best in Birmingham for conferences

The newly-promoted general manager at Macdonald Burlington Hotel in Birmingham has said he aims to make the historic hotel the best conference hotel in the city. 

James Bee has overseen a 30 per cent increase in conference room sales in the last four years as well as seeing the venue recognised at the highest level of customer satisfaction for conferences achieving the BDRC Continental VenueVerdict Gold accreditation for each quarter of 2014.

Bee said: “Macdonald Burlington is one of the most iconic hotels in Birmingham and as a local lad it’s a real honour to have been appointed as general manager. My aim is to make this historic building Birmingham’s leading conference hotel. 

“We have plans in the pipeline to invest in the hotel and I am excited to be given the opportunity to manage these plans. I am also keen to continue to offer our guests fantastic service by developing our ethnically and culturally diverse team towards being renowned as one of the best hospitality providers in the city.”

Over the last four years at Macdonald Burlington Hotel Bee increased bedroom sales by more than 20 per cent between 2013 and 2016 and increased its TripAdvisor ranking by twelve places in the city’s hotel rankings.
