Top Banana has appointed a new head of film and expanded its London office as it bids to achieve ambitious growth targets.

Simon Tate has joined the company’s Midlands office in the newly created head of film role to spearhead growth in motion graphics, while Andrew Mossop has joined the London office as client services director. Top Banana has also acquired Tate's film company, Emanation Creative.

Top Banana MD Nick Terry said of Tate’s appointment: “We wanted to further expand our expertise in this area to cater for the increased demand for film from our clients. Simon will be spearheading the development of our existing in-house capability to deliver moving image projects that deliver tangible results in this highly visual age.”

Tate has created programming for broadcasters like The Discovery and National Geographic Channels, CNN and others, as well as for clients as diverse as Virgin Media, No 7 Makeup, British Gypsum and United Biscuits.

In addition to his commercial portfolio, Tate also released a feature film, The Point of Regret, in 2011 and his second, Weapon, is due for release later this year.

Terry added: “We’re excited to have someone with such fantastic expertise on board. The appetite for film is growing massively and we’re now well placed to cater for that demand.”

Andrew Mossop, who joins as client services director in the London office, will lead the team in servicing the company’s growing client base and developing new relationships.

Mossop has spent more than 20 years running event agencies in London and Asia, delivering projects in 28 countries for clients including MasterCard, Omega and Chanel.

The arrival of Tate and Mossop nudges the Top Banana team to just over 50 across both the London and Midland offices.
