Event professionals will get in the saddle and don their running shoes in response to an appeal from industry charity Meeting Needs by signing up for two major fundraising events.

In July, a team of four cyclists will tackle the Prudential 100 Ride London-Surrey Peloton Relay, and work together to complete the 100-mile course culminating in The Mall.  Meeting Needs board member and Event Marketing Association chair Richard Waddington, Jack Morton Worldwide’s Jim Donald, Glenn Boulton of The Production Exchange and Dale Parmenter, CEO of drp Group have each committed to raising £500 for the charity by completing legs of the course ranging from 25 miles to the full 100 miles.

Fundraisers have also signed up for the Royal Parks Half Marathon in October, also committing to raise £500 each. The ten set to tackle the 13.1 mile course around London’s Royal Parks are: Richard Waddington, CAT Publications managing editor Martin Lewis, Aoife McVeigh and Sandrine Gonnet of Banks Sadler, Matt Evans and Suzie Blundell from drp Group, First Protocol’s Lucy Russell and Harriett Bullen, and Kevin Nash and Mat Clapham of MCI UK.

Meeting Needs director of development Shonali Rodrigues said: “It is wonderful to see the industry get behind the industry charity in this way.”
