Orchard Media and Events Group has invested £1 million for new headquarters in Cardiff, as it looks to expand its headcount by more than 10 per cent.

The Welsh creative, content and communications specialists, which attributes 60 per cent of its work as B2B, will look to appoint five new staff members in its production, studio and editing teams when it moves into the new 1,600 sqm premises, taking staff numbers to 45.

It comes after the Welsh company reached £6 million in annual turnover last year, and was named SME of the Year at the Cardiff Business Awards. Orchard was also one of the first UK companies to take delivery of the world's first virtual reality camera, the Nokia Ozo, following investment in its own drone, the Orchard AirCam.

Orchard chief operations officer Matt Wordley said its new headquarters in the city centre will allow the company to consolidate its operations.

"Orchard has been building for the past five years and investing in our own home was always in the plans. We’ve found the ideal site in a great central location, and are grateful to Knight Frank, Berry Smith and Welsh Government for getting us to this point," Wordley said.

"We have a terrific team at Orchard, and the future looks very promising, so it’s great to have headquarters in the centre of the capital that will match our ambitions."

Recent business wins include Digital 2016, a showcase for Welsh technology; an internal conference for Johnson & Johnson called Moving Minds and FIFA president Gianni Infantino's first public appearance at the AGM of the International Football Association board. The company also managed the recent Wales homecoming celebrations in Cardiff for the Football Association of Wales.
