The Oysters group of 26 international tourist boards and convention bureaux have officially formed an association as they seek to manage future growth.

As a result, The Oysters are seeking a secretariat to manage association activities, alongside newly-elected chair Lene Corgan, of Tourism Australia.

Consisting of tourist boards and bureaux including Flanders-Brussels, France, Germany, Greater Miami and Hong Kong, The Oysters’ activities were previously ad hoc and informal in structure.

Corgan said: “We have increased our fees, had total buy-in from our existing supporters and have become an unincorporated association. We are now in the process of starting to recruit and appoint a secretariat to help manage and grow our activities further.”

Parties interested in tendering for the secretariat should email Lene Corgan on by 24 February.

Lindsey Thorpe, of Las Vegas Convention & Visitor Bureau at Hills Balfour, added: “The more formal structure will allow the volunteer board to explore additional opportunities for the members. This will develop events to best communicate the offer of the diverse range of product within member countries to the UK business events market.”
