The official reopening of The Ritz in Paris has been delayed after a fire which swept through the top floor of the world-famous luxury hotel.

Originally due to open to guests in April following an extensive £100 million, three-year renovation, the luxury hotel was damaged by a fire. But the hotel has confirmed that date has now been pushed back until summer.

A spokesman said: “The restoration works continue and we promise to deliver the Ritz Paris we all hoped for. We are excited to welcome guests to Place Vendôme at the very beginning of June.”

Last month’s fire is believed to have started on the seventh floor and spread to the attic and roof. Renovation work included all 143 rooms, in addition to restaurant L’Espadon and the Ritz Escoffier cooking school.
