Park Plaza has announced plans to open up 900 more rooms across London, as new openings and expansions take it to eight properties in the capital.

The company is preparing to launch Park Plaza London Waterloo before the end of 2016, the first new hotel to open, which will be followed by the new-build Park Plaza London Park Royal.

The group has also invested in its current properties Park Plaza London Riverbank and Plaza on the River, as major refurbishments and expansions wind up. The "multi-million pound" investments see the group's total room count rise to 3,158 rooms.

Greg Hegarty, regional general manager UK for PPHE Hotel Group, the parent company, said: "We are delighted to announce these new additions to the Park Plaza Hotels & Resorts portfolio. It follows a strong development year for the brand, which has also seen investments in Croatia and Nuremberg in Europe, and marks a huge boost to the London market.

"As London's tourism industry continues to attract many visitors, and business travellers are being drawn to the capital, we look forward to catering to popular demand while providing contemporary design and exceptional service that is synonymous with the Park Plaza Hotels & Resorts brand."

The Park Plaza London Waterloo will feature 494 rooms, a restaurant, bar, café, spa and swimming pool, along with a number of meeting spaces, the largest of which can seat 200 delegates theatre-style.

The new-build Park Plaza London Park Royal features 212 rooms and is close to Wembley, offering easy access to London Heathrow

Ufi Ibrahim, chief executive of British Hospitality Association (BHA), a partner of PPHE Hotel Group, added: "Continued investment by hotels such as Park Plaza is critical to the UK's ability to outpace international rival destinations and to ensure that London remains a world class destination."
