Guests to Merlin Events’ next showcase at Madame Tussauds
have designed their own carnival themed party by voting for their preferences
via Twitter and Facebook.
Once registered, guests were invited to choose the party’s
theme out of three options: ‘Hollywood
to Bollywood’, ‘Carnival’ and ‘Fashion’.
‘Carnival’ received the most votes and now the attendees
must select the entertainment, food, lighting and production for the event,
which takes place on 1 February.
Michael Aldridge, general manager, Merlin Events London said
he came up with the concept to illustrated to the event industry that social
media can be ‘fun, engaging and very relevant’
“It’s time to shake things up a bit, give people the experience
they really want,” he said. “It seems to work quite well for Simon Cowell.
Social media will be used pre, during and post event. The party is a must
for event organisers to see the power of social media in a real setting.”
Guests can follow the thread on Twitter using the hashtag
#Itsyourparty, where latest updates on the polls will be tweeted.
