Planet Pursuits staff turned into secret agents last weekend as part of the company’s own team building away day.
The event formed part of the Wiltshire-based event management company’s bi-annual strategy day to reward staff and explore new initiatives for future business.
As the weekend coincided with the launch of the new Bond film, Skyfall, Simon Maddison, director of Planet Pursuits, decided to organise a 007 themed event for the staff. He said: “It was challenging. It’s a bit like organising a day for someone who has had everything - been there and done that. The problem is we have arranged pretty much every kind of event for every type of client!
“Of course that should involve some form of mission, driving fast cars, helicopters, guns and let’s not forget all set in some amazing locations. Being in the industry certainly helps, but I was still presented with the same challenges we face day to day with our corporate clients.”
The day involved the ‘agents’ using the internet-based team game, ‘Spy-Inc’, where they had to crack various codes to progress in their missions as well as attending spy school where they were taught how to handle weapons, drive all-terrain buggies and complete military drills.
The group also had to find the location of two five-star venues that they had to infiltrate and conduct a 24-hour reconnaissance of. A Vanquish Aviation helicopter landed on the lawn of the company’s headquarters and whisked the team away to The Greenway, a luxury country house hotel near Cheltenham. The team also drove Aston Martins and Range Rovers to the Ellenborough Park Hotel & Spa, and the evening ended with a ‘martini’ cocktail-making class, a black tie dinner and a trip to watch Skyfall.
