Procurement conference heads east to new InterContinental London

The O2 hotel wins three year deal to take World Procurement Congress to east London from previous West End location

The new InterContinental London – The O2 has won a three year contract to host the Procurement Leaders’ World Procurement Congress and Awards.

The purpose built luxury 453-room hotel and 4,500sqm conference centre will host the 2016 event on 17-18 May, having secured the London event from its previous location in the capital’s West End.

We have a brand new, incredible product with all the space, versatility and connections required to attract high-profile large events such as this one away from the centre of London and this contract perfectly underlines our ability to do just that.” 

Working with venue finding agency pro-ven, Procurement Leaders’ requirement for a large, flexible meeting space with excellent transport links for more than 700 delegates arriving from more than 20 countries across the globe was met in the InterContinental London – The O2. 

For two days, the World Procurement Congress will take over the hotel’s entire conference centre - including the 3,100sqm of pillar-free space within the Arora Ballroom and all 19 additional meeting rooms for presentations, networking and break-outs - to showcase brands including Google, SAP, Coupa and Huawei. The hotel will also play host to the World Procurement Awards on the night of 18 May; a dinner and celebrity-hosted awards ceremony for 1000 guests.

Chris Edwards, Procurement Leaders’ head of operations, said: “Having held discussions with the team at pro-ven and the InterContinental London – The O2 during its pre-opening phase, we are now really looking forward to holding the event in what is already fast becoming the capital’s most exciting new venue.  

“The sheer scale of the events space, along with its unique position on the river, provides us with a phenomenal new all-round events proposition for the congress to ensure it can continue to grow year on year.”
